RICS CYPRUS
Real
estate specialists with a broad spectrum of property
knowledge have become an absolute must. As a result
of their sound academic and practical training and their
high ethical standards, RICS
members are a cut above the rest and have increasingly
high profiles in local markets.
Since its development in 1998, RICS Cyprus has had
a steady growth and now contains no less than 197 members.
The objective of the Association is to serve as a forum
for all RICS members in Cyprus, to promote discussion
and the continuous professional development of its members.
Externally RICS Cyprus promotes the profession among
academic centers of excellence, companies and official
entities through its various activities such as the
local qualification process of RICS members, conferences
and public relations.
RICS members are expected to be professional at all
times, treat their clients with fairness and respect
and carry out the job in hand to the best of their abilities.
RICS has established a number of core values or principles
that underpin the actions of all its members wherever
they work. These core principles are designed to provide
help in normal work day situations and guidance when
a member is faced with a difficult issue. Members are
expected to:
Act with integrity Never put your own gain above the
welfare of your clients, and respect their confidentiality
at all times.
Always be honest. Be trustworthy in all that you do
- never deliberately mislead, whether by withholding
or distorting information.
Be open and transparent in your dealings. Share the
full facts with your clients, making things as plain
and intelligible as possible.
Be accountable for all your actions. Never commit to
more than you can deliver, take full responsibility,
and don't blame others if things go wrong.
Know and act within your limitations. Be aware of the
limits of your competence and don't be tempted to work
beyond these.
Be objective at all times. Give fair neutral advice,
and never let your own feelings or interests cloud your
judgment.
Never discriminate against others. Always treat others
with respect whatever their gender, race, religion or
sexual orientation.
Set a good example. Remember that both your public
and private behaviour could affect your own reputation,
RICS and other members’ reputations.
Have the courage to make a stand. Be prepared to act
if you suspect another member of malpractice.
